I was traveling from Enterprise, Oregon north to Idaho where I chanced upon a road cut along the hills that seemed to bleed like an actual wound possibly from some sort of iron oxide deposits. So I simply had to paint it. I had come here after traveling through the Painted Hills further west and this reminded me of them. I’ve never attempted to paint them however, because no one would believe it. Road Cut: 24×24″ encaustic on birch panel.
