Last Stand

Last StandIn the west we suffer from forest and wild fires. The cinders can blow for quite a distance as was the case here where the only trees were this lonely group on a hill crest. Nothing else on the hill was burning but the trees initially and it seemed so strange. Last Stand,  24×24″ encaustic on birch, was donated to the Cascade Aids Project’s annual art auction.
