Encaustic Paintings and Fine Art Prints by International Encaustic Artist Kyle Evans
The original encaustic paintings are made with beeswax and pigment using both classic encaustic methods and unique techniques I have developed over the past decade creating encaustic art. The ground is my own custom gesso recipe on 3/4" birch panel.

The original encaustic painting measures 24x24" and makes use of a variety of techniques. Most notable is the burned-in etching of pigment directly on the surface of the beeswax. This is a tricky process that involves covering the area with a pigment and then drawing in the lines with a heated pen. You are painting blind and don't know what you've got until you rinse off the loose pigment to see what is actually burned into the wax. It's like drawing with your eyes closed.
