The original encaustic paintings are made with beeswax and pigment using both classic encaustic methods and unique techniques I have developed over the past decade creating encaustic art. The ground is my own custom gesso recipe on 3/4" birch panel.

Is that a demon on your shoulder, or are you just happy to see me? I love the metaphorical values in the painting and the double entendres. The use of the compasses taking the measure of a man with their needle points. The unaffected, unfeeling mask of a face, and of course the title.
