A free flowing painting where I allow the paint to rise, sink, and disperse in a bloom of color. The surface is moved and shaped with a heat lamp and the tired arms of the artist tilting the panel while holding the lamp to get the flow just right. A dear playwright friend inspired this piece with his small courtyard night garden designed entirely with plants that only bloom at night. Of course it didn’t look like much during the day, but after working he liked to sit on the back patio in the evenings smoking his pipe and watching the garden come to life. So this is my homage to his garden and those times we spent together watching the world of the night unfurl before our eyes.
