Honestly, this painting was a little rebellion I had with myself over painting landscapes, but it became about more. We are always setting new horizons for ourselves and when we reach one, another exists over the next hill, and the next. I decided to break from this paradigm and set ablaze a vertical horizon which knows no limits of simply earthly things. A break from the tyranny of the expected into the realm of liberty. The Tyranny of Horizons: 24×24″ encaustic on birch panel.
