Ridge Fire

Ridge FireWe had a fire in Southern Oregon known as the ridge fire and several “hot shot” crew members were killed there fighting it. One gallery director refused to hang this painting because it was too emotional, and for her, too soon after the fire. But this is what it is like when the world around you is on fire and the sky boils and it’s hard to see through the smoke and heat while your lungs struggle to remember what fresh air felt like and just over the ridge there is only more. Ridge Fire: 24×24″ encaustic on birch panel.
