The original encaustic paintings are made with beeswax and pigment using both classic encaustic methods and unique techniques I have developed for creating encaustic art. The ground is my own custom gesso recipe on 3/4" birch panel.

This painting is made up of 3173 notches carved into the birch through a layer of graphite. There is one notch for every person murdered on Sept. 11th. The beeswax overcoating holds the smokey wisps of patriotism. The original encaustic painting is 24x24".
